We need you

Operating since 1963, Federal Retirees has a proud history of advocacy on behalf of our more than 170,000 members and all retirees. With our volunteers and members from coast-to-coast, we continue this tradition of strong, smart advocacy campaigns.

Membership costs just $55.92 per year for an individual and $72.60 per year for a couple. With your support, we can continue to protect your hard-earned pension and benefits. Your membership also supports good policy that improves the lives all Canadians in retirement.

Our work together

Thanks to the generous support of our Federal Retirees community we have been able to deliver effective advocacy campaigns that truly make a difference.

Our Association recently turned 60, and we’re proud to have a body of work worth celebrating, including over a half a century of important victories for federal employees, retirees, older Canadians and their loved ones:

  • Secured full pension indexation for all federal retirees, so your pensions keep up with the cost of living.
  • Fought for the protection and security of your loved ones, obtaining continued benefits for surviving spouses.
  • Challenged the $30-billion pension surplus grab from the public service, Canadian Armed Forces and RCMP superannuation accounts.
  • Negotiated the creation of your dental plan, the Pensioners’ Dental Services Plan (PDSP).
  • Defeated Bill C-27, dangerous legislation that would put pension security at risk.
  • Lobbied successfully for a federal seniors minister, ensuring you have a voice in cabinet
  • Delivered a modernized Public Service Health Care Plan (PSHCP) with meaningful enhancements across nearly every benefit category.

Federal Retirees is also building a nationwide network of advocates to advance our mission – to significantly improve the quality and security of retirement for our members and all Canadians. We’re calling this network Reach 338 – because our goal is to ensure that our advocacy work reaches all 338 federal ridings before the next election and we need you to make it happen.

We see you

With the National Association of Federal Retirees, you will always be more than just a number. Of course, you will have a membership number (which is useful for Preferred Partner savings, among other things) but you are first and foremost a valued advocate and supporter. What we do is only possible because of you.

You can call us during business hours at 1-855-304-4700 to talk to a real-live person (not an automated prerecording) to ask your questions about our advocacy work, your membership, volunteering opportunities and anything else!

Not a phone person? Don’t worry – there are plenty of ways to keep in touch!

Your local community

When you become a member, you also become part of one of our 77 branches across the country with a team of passionate volunteers who are there for you – connecting with MPs, organizing events, answering questions and so much more.

(If volunteering is something that interests you, we offer opportunities, training and all the support you’ll need to take action and be part of impactful advocacy campaigns.)

Savings and other perks

Our Preferred Partner Program offers terrific savings and exclusive discounts to Association members in the realms of health, technology, home and auto insurance, financial advice and travel. One of our most popular Preferred Partner benefits is MEDOC travel insurance through Johnson Inc. We’re delighted to be able to offer our members exclusive access to annual emergency medical travel insurance that coordinates with both the Public Service Health Care Plan and your provincial government health insurance plan.

Sage, our quarterly magazine, is brimming with engaging interviews and informative articles about issues that matter to our members. Four spectacular issues are delivered to all member households each year!

As a federal employee or retiree, you’re already part of something big — a commitment to serve Canadians. We need your help to defend federal pensions and benefits and to build a better retirement for all Canadians. Join now, even if you aren’t retired.
