The COVID-19 pandemic has highlighted the importance of our four advocacy priorities and the gaps in health and seniors’ care.
According to a recent article in Hill Times Research, the National Association of Federal Retirees has been ranked among the top 50 organizations registered to lobby the federal government on health-related issues in the year 2020. Federal Retirees is tied for 28th position with four other organizations, each with 28 registered communication reports to advance health-care issues.
“2020 challenged our advocacy work in ways we never thought possible,” said Jean-Guy Soulière. “Our strong teams of volunteers and staff found new ways to get our advocacy message to more parliamentarians than ever before, all to protect members’ benefits and improve health outcomes for all Canadians.”
We owe a debt of gratitude to the many volunteers and members who have spoken up to improve health care in Canada and supported our advocacy work. Our long-term and home care campaign is still going strong, so be sure to use our online tools to ensure our governments prioritize older adult care.
