Thanks to our Prince Edward Island volunteers, the National Association of Federal Retirees was thrilled to kick-off our Reach 338 project this fall!

In September, volunteers at the Charlottetown and Summerside branches, along with the Prince Edward Island advocacy program officer, Shirley Pierce, held the first Reach 338 meetings.

Volunteers met with Sean Casey, member of Parliament for Charlottetown and the Hon. Wayne Easter, member of Parliament for Malpeque.

During these meetings volunteers led focused discussions on the need for a national seniors strategy, with an emphasis on long-term and home care.

As a result of these meetings, the urgent importance of a national seniors strategy was also discussed when the Atlantic Liberal members of Parliament met the following weekend.

Congratulations to our PEI branches for ensuring that our calls for a national seniors strategy and national standards for long-term care are heard by their MPs!

This is a great example of how Reach 338 will ensure that our advocacy work reaches all 338 federal ridings and make certain that Federal Retirees is seen and our priorities are understood by every sitting member of Parliament.

Volunteers in Quebec, British Columbia, and Newfoundland also held fall meetings with their MPs and Reach 338 volunteers across the country are busy setting up their own meetings.

The more advocates we have taking part in Reach 338, the greater our impact will be. If you’re interested in joining this nationwide network of advocates, sign-up to join the Reach 338 network today!
