Federal Retirees has been able to secure a firm commitment from our long-time partner, Johnson Insurance, that existing MEDOC policy holders will receive emergency travel insurance, which includes COVID-19 and non-COVID-19-related emergency travel coverage up to the $10 million policy limit.
And best of all, it will be free for base-plan coverage through to Dec. 31, 2020, the end of the extended policy year. While prices for supplemental coverage and for the eight-month policy year beginning Jan. 1, 2021, will soon be announced, Federal Retirees CEO Simon Coakeley has been given assurance that MEDOC will be providing our members with the best product and pricing in the travel insurance market, including superior policy terms for pre-existing health conditions.
“I am very happy to announce that this coverage will apply both inside and outside the current global travel advisory,” said Coakeley. “However, it does not apply to all cruises, which are now subject to the Government of Canada advisory to avoid all cruises. It will also include trip cancellation and trip interruption insurance as before but not for COVID-19-related events. Our director of communications, marketing and recruitment, Andrew McGillivary, and I have been meeting frequently with very senior officials at Johnson Insurance over the last six months, and we have pushed them hard to work with the re-insurance market in the UK to deliver the top-of-the-market product that you’ve come to expect from MEDOC.”
Stay tuned for more details coming soon.
