Annual general meeting of the Ottawa Valley Branch
The Ottawa Valley Branch of the National Association of Federal Retirees needs your help to continue building our branch so that we may better represent your interests and support our communities.
We are calling for members to help in two ways.
- Your participation at the in-person annual general meeting (AGM) of the Ottawa Valley Branch
Date: May 5, 2025 from
Time: 1 to 3 p.m. at the
Location: Carleton Canoe Club, 179 John St., Carleton Place, On.
This AGM is a critical opportunity to have your voice heard, gather important information from our guest speakers and shape the future of our branch. An agenda is attached for your information. Our agenda is a balance between informative guest speakers on topics of interest to retirees and business affairs of the branch. Your participation in this AGM is essential to ensuring that a quorum of our membership is achieved so that we may conduct business, consider changes to our governance and ensure that the Branch is providing value-added services to you.
- Your leadership. The Federal Retirees and our branch are dependent on volunteers to invest their time, energies, and the skills and abilities acquired in their public service careers and personal pursuits to benefit the 1,700 members of our branch and local communities. Our organization is committed to actively supporting volunteers to ensure that the time commitment and level of effort is minimal. We are asking anyone interested in helping the branch to come forward and express their interest in serving as a board member either in an executive position (president, VP, treasurer, secretary) or a director at large. In order for the branch to continue to function in 2025 and beyond, a minimum of four (4) directors must be confirmed. Anyone wishing more information on volunteering to help the branch may contact Ian Bennett, interim president (bennettian1952@gmail.com) or Gail Curran, Volunteer Coordinator, Federal Retirees national office (gcurran@federalretirees.ca).
In the coming days reminders and background information on the AGM including reports, the proposed changes to the branch governance and updates will be posted here.
Thank you for your support. Please do not hesitate to reach out if any further information is required. We look forward to seeing you on May 5, 2025.
Ian Bennett
President, Ottawa Valley Branch
