Federal Retirees vice-president Hélène Nadeau shares members’ concerns over the upcoming transition of the PDSP to Canada Life.

Association vice-president Hélène Nadeau recently spoke with Radio-Canada/CBC about members’ concerns on the Pensioners’ Dental Services Plan’s (PDSP) transition to Canada Life.

In June 2023, the government announced the contract for the PDSP had been awarded to Canada Life, with a transition date originally set for July 1, 2024. The transition has now been set for Nov. 1, 2024, following members’ concerns over last year’s transition of the Public Service Health Care Plan (PSHCP).

The 2023 transition of the PSHCP to Canada Life caused challenges for many members, difficulties compounded by the inability to speak to a call centre agent. Those issues have prompted questions about the decision to transfer the plan to Canada Life and the role of the Association.

“We’re hoping that Canada Life really learns from the previous experience,” said Nadeau.
